If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply in one of two ways:
- Make a Verbal Access Request by calling us on 1800 800 110
- Complete an Access Request Form and send it to:
Mail: GPO Box 700, Canberra, ACT 2601
Email: NAT@ndis.gov.au or
In person: take it to your local NDIA office
You will be required to provide evidence of your disability, to understand what supporting information you need to provide to the NDIA, refer to: https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/how-apply/information-support-your-request/providing-evidence-your-disability
How long does the NDIS application process take?
Upon receiving a valid access request, the NDIA must respond within 21 days.
If you are eligible for the NDIS and have received an ‘access decision’ letter, the next step is creating your NDIS plan.
Creating Your Plan
Your plan will outline your goals and the supports you will receive from NDIS, the community and other government agencies.
Using Your Plan
Most NDIS participants over 7 years of age will have a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to help them understand and use their plan. This includes showing participants how to use the myplace portal and connecting them with funded supports.
What is Myplace?
Myplace is a website portal associated with the Australian Government’s myGov website. The portal stores your NDIS information. You can view your current and previous plans, access your contact details, view correspondence from NDIS, create and view payment requests, create and manage service bookings, upload documents, share your plan or documents with service providers and find service providers.
To access myplace, you will need a myGov account. If you need further assistance with your account call 1800 800 110.
Support Budgets
There are three types of support budgets that may be funded in your NDIS plan:
- Core Supports budget helps you with everyday activities, your current disability-related needs and to work towards your goals.
- Capacity Building Supports budget helps build your independence and skills to help you reach your long-term goals.
- Capital Supports budget includes higher-cost pieces of assistive technology, equipment and home or vehicle modifications, and funding for one-off purchases you may need (including Specialist Disability Accommodation).
