The NDIS provides funding to participants to purchase a range of supports aimed at increasing their independence, inclusion, social and economic participation.

This support program is designed to be flexible and to allow for innovation in care. Supports delivered will be chosen and paid for by individual participants from their approved NDIS plan.

Supports for participants fall into three categories: Core, Capital and Capacity Building

CORE

A support that enables a participant to complete activities of daily living and enables them to work towards their goals and meet their objectives.

CAPITAL

An investment, such as assistive technologies, equipment and home or vehicle modifications, funding for capital costs.

CAPACITY BUILDING

A support that enables a participant to build their independence and skills.

The NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) needs sufficient evidence to decide which assistive technology supports are reasonable and necessary to include in a participant’s plan. An assessment may be required to provide evidence of the need and requirement.

The following templates help assessors and participants provide information to help the NDIA determine the appropriate supports to include in participants’ plans.
